In the garden of Fontanny (Fountain) house of Akhmatova there has been reconstructed the monument to Countess P. Sheremetieva. P. Sheremetieva gave birth to the heir of Count Sheremetiev and died in 20 days, in 1803. She’s buried in Sheremetiev’s sepulcher, in Lazar Church of Alexander Nevsky monastery. Soon after his wife had passed away Count N. Sheremetiev ordered to build a modest monument in the garden of his Fontanny house, next to the trees planted by Praskovya Ivanovna herself. According to the style of the epitaph, it was the Count who composed it when giving the monument sketch. During the first years after the Revolution there was historical-utility museum. The monument to P. Sheremetieva has been mentioned in the guides as one of the sights. In 1930 the museum was wound up, intending to organize the ‘Popular Science House” in the building. The art items were given to the Russian Museum, and at the same time the bronze boards were removed from the monument. For some time the pedestal has been used for putting the plaster paragovernmental bust (the witnesses can’t tell for sure who was it put to - either Lenin or Stalin). After the war, here was placed a white plaster vase on the pedestal. Nowadays, the original monument is reconstructed. Perhaps, Akhmatova saw it.

— Мне все-же кажется, что это восстановленный памятник, а современный памятный знак. Установлен в 2006 г. в рамках реставрации сада Шереметевского дворца, осуществленной ООО "Дан". Архитектор Ольга Новичкова.
