Go down the ramparts on the Split of Vasilyevsky Island to the river Neva and you will find these bas-reliefs: lion heads with metal rings. The combination lion-ring symbolizes power and eternity. That’s probably the reason why the newlyweds come here and hope that their matrimony will be strong and eternal.
