A beautiful but very unkempt house with a tower on Karpovka river embankment. It’s designed with expressive bas-relief with lions and a column. In this case the solemn column is an image of “the world axis”, a base of the building. And the lion symbolizes defense of heaven from enemies, because in the ancient world and the Middle ages there was a belief that a lion sleeps with their eyes open, that’s how it became an ideal guard at the house gates.

Address: 30, Karpovka river embankment.

How to reach: Petrogradskaya underground station.
