Bronze bulls was cast in 1827 according to the model of known sculptor V. I. Demut-Malinovsky. Metal statues reproduce characteristic traits of these by far not peace animals and show perfect external resemblance. Originally the bulls stood on Tsarskosel'sky Prospect (currently: Moskovsky Prospect, 65) at the entrance to the cattle yard. In 1936 they were transported to Moskovsky Highway, 13 where the meat-packing plant was constructed. By autumn of 1941 under enemy fire the sculptures were removed from their pedestals and were transferred to Aleksandro-Nevsky monastery. After the end of the war bronze bulls were returned to the former places next to the gates of the meat-packing plant. The sizes of statues are - 2,70 х 3,50 х 1,12 meters.

                    [comment] => Катерина. Насколько я знаю быков так и не закопали. История такова... быков изваял скульптор В.И. Демут–Малиновский. И ему приснилмся вещий сон что статуи пришли к нему и встали у изголовья.  Скульптор часто рассказывал этот сон и просил друзей разгадать его тайну. 

Увы, он умер в 1846 году, так и не узнав разгадки. Прошло сто лет. Быков с Обводного канала перевезли на Московское шоссе. Когда началась блокада Ленинграда быков перевезли от обстрелов в некрополь мастеров искусств Александро-Невской лавры... так быки действительно пришли к скульптору, вернее к его могиле...
