This sight is rather a formal one of our city. Perhaps everyone knows this building and this fence. But I’ve noticed this fence for the first time just yesterday. Actually, thanks to this wonderful site, thanks to this project, my life has changed. It has become more interesting. I began to notice what didn’t notice previously, started to read books on the history of the city and its architecture. Thanks to the website creators. Now, to the object.

In the very beginning of Konnogvardeysky Boulevard there is a mansion with interesting bars, decorated with busts of two blacks in white turbans. Black faces with sparkling whites of the eyes. The contrast between black people and white garments makes these busts unusual and memorable.

The mansion of Prince M. V. Kochubey was built in 1853-1857 years by the architect G. A. Bosse. The facade is made in the Renaissance style. The busts of blacks are of marble, the faces – of black, and the turbans and the robes – of white. Beautiful and unusual.

Address: 7 Konnogvardeysky boulevard.

How to reach: from Nevsky Prospect metro station either on foot or by trolleybus 5.
