This is the memorial to the military medics, fallen in the wars. It’s put in the garden-waste land surrounded by the buildings of the Military-Navy Academy of S. M. Kirov.
The memorial is made at the initiative of the ex-head of the Academy Y. Shevchenko, by the architects Y. Metyurev and N. Metyureva. It’s built on the money and donations from the Ministry of Defense of RF, the academy itself, and “LenTransGas” enterprise. It was placed on May 8 in 1996. The monument is comprised of the portico and semicircular fence with the granite benches. On the portico sides there are the metal sculptures of the spears and shields. There are two quotations engraved on the inner side of these shields: “The job of a doctor is a remarkable feat. It requires courage, pure mind and pure thoughts.” by A. P. Chekhov, and “One skillful physician is worth a lot of warriors.” by Homer. Inside the portico, there’s a copper roundel on the granite cross, with the words engraved “For these ones who sacrificed themselves. For those ones, who will follow them.”

How to reach: Ploschad Lenina metro station, exit to Botkinskaya Street and Akademika Lededeva Street, then go along Akademika Lebedeva st. to the crossing with Bolshoy Sampsonievsky prospect – here’s Voennykh Medikov square.

Не м.м., (20.04.2011 at 19:55) 0— Вот, Влад, на полном серьезе Вам большой, низкий поклон от внучки бабушки-военного хирурга, прошедшей войну до 1945 года и двоюродного деда, учившегося на врача в Ленинграде, трубившего всю жизнь военным врачом на подводной лодке... Хотела сама выложить, да Вы опередили. Как раз вовремя- к 9 Мая...
— Влад, только повторюсь и здесь: "Влад, за всей Вашей бравадой и ором скрывается добрая, открытая душа и хорошая эстетическая жилка- это не скроешь за злыми словами"...

— Не следует расценивать мои слова, как злые - я добрый и пушистый! Просто старайтесь рассматривать критику в полном объёме, без изначального отрицательного вектора! Вы прочтите критику, подумайте, а затем пишите! Я так и делаю! иногда, право, срываюсь на тявканье от вас и ПАВ. Но всегда готов рассмотреть здавые коментарии в свой адрес! По существу!
