A very beautiful monument dedicated to the famous Azerbaijan poet of the 12th century was opened on the 9th of June in 2002. The monument is a gift from Azerbaijan to Saint-Petersburg dedicated to the city’s anniversary. The sculpture is very expressive – the poet sits on the rock and looks like a rick himself, his hair and clothes dies away with the stone. A tall orient arc frames the statue. On the back of the rock there is a picture describing a tree and two characters of Nizami’s poem “Laly and Medgenun”. The poem is an Arabian variant of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”.

А памятник интересен - эдакий боян, но почему-то с палитрой, вместо гуслей) Хотя, отсюда не разглядеть)

— Изящный, я бы сказала, памятник, вроде и восточный колорит есть-и как-то по-петербургски строго. И намного лучше памятника ему же в Москве.
