In June 1871 Saint Petersburg district court faced the judicial trial on the matter of a famous Bavarian theologist Pikhler. He had been a senior librarian in St. Petersburg Public library and was accused in stealing 4478 books and 427 engravings. On the 16th of March 1871 Pikhler was fired and sentenced to one year deportation to Tambov province followed by 2 year permanent settlement in Siberia and also 1703 rubles fine for the damaged book covers. In the beginning of January 1874 he was released and came back to Bavaria, on the 22nd of May 1874 at the age of 40 he was found dead in his house, though a day before he was absolutely healthy. — чужая душа- потемки)))... Может, так его разтак, эстет))), все же "роскошь переплётов"; а может, банально- слаб человек на злато-серебро- "высокая ценность ". Но проходя мимо Публички на Невском, каждый раз с великим удивлением вспоминаю этого, Алоизия)))
